Dale Jr. To Join NBC next year

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be retiring from racing but that doesn’t mean he’s making a pit stop from racing.

Because he will be right back at the track next season speaking into a headset.

Only it won’t be while flying around the track as much as sitting in the booth above it.

NBC confirmed yesterday that Earnhardt signed a multiyear deal with the network, beginning in January just after Earnhardt’s retirement from the sport at the end of the 2017 season.

And considering old habits die hard, he won’t be sitting still as the network says Earnhardt will serve a key role in NBC’s NASCAR coverage but won’t be limited to the track as the 42-year-old is also expected to contribute to other areas of the network’s programming, possibly as part of its NFL and Olympics coverage.

Earnhardt Jr.’s final NASCAR Cup Series race is set for Nov. 19 down at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
